Student anxiety, depression and mental illness in the classroom
February 8, 2021 @ 8:30 am – 11:30 am
A workshop has been requested on student anxiety, depression and mental illness in the classroom.
The New Frontiers School Board would like to host the online workshop on February 8, 2021 from 8:30am to 11:30am.
We would like to determine if there is enough interest from vocational teachers from all boards to go ahead with the workshop.
Please check out the registration form with the information for the proposed workshop. If you would like to participate in the workshop, please fill in the registration form, have it signed by your director and return it to me by December 14, 2020.
The animator of the workshop is Dr. Tina Montreuil from the Department of Psychiatry of McGill University.
A description of the workshop can be found on the registration form by clicking under “Description” and scrolling down.
The objectives of the workshop are as follows:
- Recognize the early signs of anxiety, depression and other related mental health issues in the classroom.
- Develop skills and resources to assist students presenting with socioemotional issues.
- Gain a greater understanding on the importance of relying on the “resilient brain” and promoting self-care in teachers to better assist student needs.
Hoping this topic will be of interest to you.
