After four wonderful years with l’Équipe-choc Pedagogical, the time has come for me to retire and begin a new chapter in life. It’s a bittersweet moment as I reflect on the journey we’ve shared—filled with challenges, growth, and many rewarding memories. Working alongside such talented, dedicated educators has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. I’m deeply grateful for the support, camaraderie, and collaboration we’ve built together over the years.

The 17th edition of the Olympiades québécoises des métiers et des technologies took place at the beginning of May in Quebec City. It is the biggest competition dedicated to trades in the province and two LBPSB vocational students participated in this intense two-day competition.

Recently, the Lester B. Pearson School Board’s Continuing Education department held their annual Adult Learners’ Week celebration. The event was held in person for the first time since 2019, making it an especially memorable occasion.

The performance of 47 competitors at the 2025 Olympiades Québécoises des métiers et des technologies not only earned them a podium finish, but also, for many, a spot on the provincial elite team: Team Quebec.

They will represent Quebec at the Skills Canada National Competition, which will be held in Regina from May 29 to 31, 2025.

RÉCIT VT is the anglophone Vocational Training branch of a Québec wide network focused on the development of student skills through the integration of technology in education. RÉCIT (Network, Education, Collaboration, Innovation, Technology) fulfills its mandate mainly through the training, support, and guidance of teaching staff, while also developing a culture of networking and sharing.

Organized by Compétences Québec and supported by committed partners, the Olympiades québécoises des métiers et des technologies are high level trades competitions that highlight the savoir-faire and talent of those who have chosen to qualify in a professional or technical training program.

This unique event, open to the public and school visitors, offers an incomparable orientation experience thanks to the observation and exploration of specialized trades.

The Ninth National Pedagogical Day in Vocational Training will take place virtually on November 14, 2024.  It will bring together Vocational Training teachers, andragogical consultants, administrators and other stakeholders in the field who, like you, contribute to the recognition, development, and promotion of Vocational Training.

Escape rooms in vocational training centres have been popular this school year! So far, we’ve run four engaging escape room activities with students and staff, and even shared our experience at the Leadership Committee for English Education in Quebec conference. Social Integration Stories from across the QCS(V)I Network, Winter 2025 Edition.

Adult education is a powerful path for personal growth, yet many adult learners face challenges in accessing the resources they need. From completing secondary education through AGE programs, to pursuing CEGEP or vocational training, we must work together to ensure equitable opportunities for all learners. This is why our focus this month is Bridging the Gap.

The Olympiades québécoises des métiers et des technologies is the largest event dedicated to vocational and technical training in Quebec.  Inspired by the Olympic Games, the Olympiades offers an exceptional showcase of skilled trades and tangible models of success. From May 7 to 10, 2025, hundreds of competitors from 93 vocational training centres and CEGEPS throughout the province will participate in this competition in Quebec City.
