On May 19, 2022, QACVE held its bi-annual conference under the theme of “Silver Linings”.  Participants were greeted virtually by a line-up of speakers and presenters welcoming teachers, administrators, and professionals from our Vocational Training community.  The conference was hosted via Zoom with the help of LCEEQ who managed the platform.  More than 140 participants registered to the event.

We were excited to welcome Sonia Di Maulo (The Growth Mindset & Creating a Learning Legacy) and Kathryn Peterson (Resilience, Changing our Mindset & Self-care) as our opening and closing keynote speakers, dazzling us with their vision on education.

Our different workshops proved us again that there is a wealth of knowledge and expertise in our own educational community, whether from Vocational, Adult General Education and other stakeholders.

Moreover, we celebrated exemplary Vocational Training teachers through the attribution of the QACVE Peer Recognition Awards. Despite the virtual aspect of the Conference, we were happy to have been able to present our Awards to deserving teachers. This award highlights personal initiatives taken by engaged teachers. This year’s winners are Maxwell Barr from EMSB, Patrice Durocher from RSB and Tassia Korbis from LBPSB. Congratulations and thank you for your contribution to offering quality Vocational Training that is available to the population in the English sector.

The Comfort Zone

How does it feel to go back to school for an Adult learner? Who are the Millenials? How do they learn? What makes our jobs easier… and more difficult ? How do they feel when stepping in a school setting after many years?

The 2019 conference brought us in a different environment to share our stories and to learn how to deal with our students’ comfort zones… and our own!

Participants did not register to workshops… the workshops came to them!

Date: May 16-17, 2019

Location: Jouvence, 131 De Jouvence road, Orford, QC, J1X 6R2

The focus of the 2017 Conference was on smart students, smart teachers and of course smart classrooms… included were strategies on how to use technologies to enhance learning, but beyond that, focused on how to enhance the your classroom to make it smarter.

Date: May 18-19, 2017

There are so many different ways that we connect! We connect with our students, colleagues, peers and community. We connect through technology where the world is wide open to us. We connect at conferences were we link up with others who are like minded. There were plenty of opportunity for networking, collaboration and sharing throughout the two days.

Date: May 14-15, 2015

Location: Manoir des Sables – Orford
