Regional Vocational Olympiad event at Laurier MacDonald Career Centre

On february 4, 2020, Laurier MacDonald Career Centre kicked off the Vocational Olympiads Regional events schedule for the Ile-de-Montéal region, hosting the Hairdressing competition.

As any competition, a lot of preparation and training is required from both teachers and students.  Amongst many others, Martine Gaudreau and Sylvie Lavigne, teachers from the Gordon Robertson Beauty Academy (Lester B. Pearson School Board) accompanied their protégés to see them dive in the controlled environment of the challenges, which were supervised by judges from the industry.  Of course, the jitters are part of the experience, but participants, regardless of results, can proudly mention the endeavour in their résumés.  The business community definitely appreciates this kind of commitment and drive.

The event was hosted by Centre Director Anna-Maria Borsellino and her team, and the welcoming environment set the stage for a successful event.

The top two winners, Emmanuelle Boulet-Pretty (CS Pointe-de-L’ile) and Avril Balingbing-Fournier (CS De Montréal) will be representing the Ile-de-Montréal region at the Provincial event in May, in Quebec City.
